The Primordial Deep · Enki's Domain · The Source Beneath Everything Sumerian: "Ab" (water) + "Zu" (deep knowledge)
Below the earth, below the foundations of the first city, below the roots of the first tree, there is water. Sweet water. The source of every spring, every well, every river that has ever carried life to a city that would not otherwise survive.
This is the Abzu. Enki built his temple there — the E-Abzu in Eridu, the first and most sacred city. When you draw water from the deep places of your life — when wisdom rises unbidden from somewhere older than your conscious mind — you are drawing from the Abzu.
